If you don't know at least one of these (I would say all, but I can't expect something like that from a WC mazing forum), then you should be hanged. This is completely late, (though partly it may only seem like it because of the nonsense Elmo and chicken posted XD) but I don't care. I of course know who Douglas Adams is. I'm reading that book right now. I read part of Ayn Rand's in my English class. You have found two people on the fourms who know at least one of the authors you have listed. You couldn't have asked for more. =P

| Hey, I just noticed that Demo implied that I am not extremely well-read. I know who all of them are; in fact, I've read Adams and Vonnegut, and have just started Atlas Shrugged. | |

| I have no clue who any of those people are... .. .. ..
Should I?
PS: I read Stephen King, a bit of Stephen King, but my favourite is Stephen King. Variety... Good for da Soul, but not da Elmo.

| You should all read, because reading is entertaining and it improves character and intelligence. You never know your IQ's may rise above 75.
Anyways, back to talking about books, The Hitchhikers series was great, but they slightly went downhill from the first. Although the first was basically amazing so it is hard to compare the rest of the series to it and things have a tendency to go downward.
Kurt Vonnegut wrote a couple WW2 books, Slaughterhouse 5 being the most famous, I read that book for an English project and I have to say that is one of my favorite books for reading a project. The problem with reading books from famous American authors is that the timelines have a tendency to skip around, or they use stream of consciousness which is really irritating to read. Farewell to Arms is an example of this, if you have ever read it, it can be a serious pain to read ><.
Oh and by the way, Catch-22 is way better than Slaughterhouse 5.

Perhaps...but not Cat's Cradle. That book had, by far, the greatest ending of any book...ever. I was amazed when my teacher let me do Slaughterhouse 5 as a reading project in 7th grade. My teacher kicked ass. Anyway, you gotta read Anthem and Fountainhead before you can read Atlas Shrugged. Although Atlas is the most renowned book of the three, the first two set a good precedent and establishment of Rand's theories. However, you have to be slow, because if you read them all at once, in a row, then your brain can kinda turn to mush. She does throw things about a bit with the latter bits (they become a bit risque, and therefore more interesting), but a lot of it is based on the same general theory. Oh, and Cip is wrong about the Guides...they are all equally awesome.

| I have only read Anthem, but I have not read any of the others. I am currently reading Tender is the Night, which is good but I have a hard time keeping interest in it. | |

| My child arrived just the other day He came to the world in the usual way But there were planes to catch and bills to pay He learned to walk while I was away And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon When you comin' home dad? I don't know when, but we'll get together then son You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok" And he walked away but his smile never dimmed And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah You know I'm gonna be like him"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon When you comin' home son? I don't know when, but we'll get together then son You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came home from college just the other day So much like a man I just had to say "Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?" He shook his head and said with a smile "What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys See you later, can I have them please?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon When you comin' home son? I don't know when, but we'll get together then son You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired, my son's moved away I called him up just the other day I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind" He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad It's been sure nice talking to you"
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me He'd grown up just like me My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon When you comin' home son? I don't know when, but we'll get together then son You know we'll have a good time then
